Tenerife

#Thecarnival (expression of the European culture) was transmitted for #Spain and #Portugal to the colonies, coming to #Tenerife in the middle of the 16th century.

According to travelers and chroniclers (there are no many documents that speak about these celebrations in the island before the 20th century). The Carnival in the 18th century was enjoyed between the wealthy classes and the ordinary people, with dances (in spite of the prohibition of the ecclesiastic and civil authorities, since it was a pagan festivity with a few days of euphoria and easing of the prohibitions of the society).

The dance continues to be the most typical act during the centuries following by new acts like competitions, artistic exhibitions, etc. In addition, cover the faces was spread out between rich women (women of the high society who were mixing in the streets thanks to the magic of the masks).

The first decades of the 20th century make evident the attraction of this Carnival, which contributes to the increase in the tourists' arrival that had begun at the end of the XIXth. With this prosperity, in 1925 the first program appeared of the Carnival realized by the Town hall of Santa Cruz.

The Spanish Civil war and the later dictatorship make truncate the popular celebrations, which already were deeply established in the society. In spite of this stage of repression, the tinerfeños (people from Tenerife) initiate clandestine parties in the intimacy of the houses.

The force of this party and the modification of the political and economic reality of the country did that in 1961 the celebration of the Carnival was accepted officially under the euphemistic name of *FiestasdeInvierno and that in 196 #TheCarnivalfromSantaCruz was declared Fiesta de interés Turistico Nacional (Festivity of Tourist National Interest).

With the arrival of the democracy, the Carnival was recovered the name and it was initiated the development as popular festivity celebrated in almost the totality of the municipalities on the island, being most known and had as reference the carnival of Santa Cruz.

To the present day, this holiday to be adding new events, being shaped for: the elections of the queens, carnival by day, the bury of the sardine, etc..

#ElTeide is in the list of the most dangerous volcanoes of the world, which is called " Decade Volcanoes ". This list was released in the 90 by the International and Chemical Association of the Interior of the Earth (IAVCEI, an association that promotes the analysis and spreading publication of studios of the activity of the volcanoes).

The volcanoes of this list had to fulfill certain requirements like: flow of lava, instability in the structure, possible collapses, to be in an inhabited zone, etc.

The list consists of a total of 16 volcanoes, and #ElTeide is in the same one.

To be part of the list, #ElTeide is sleeping, that's not deceased. It has been accumulating pressure, during so much time, which would liberate in an eruption type "plinian eruptions or Vesubian eruptions", like #Vesuvius (that gives name to the type of eruption).

Another argument has been the mass of the volcano (the third volcano of the world in importance) and its well defined structure.

The Teide has an altitude of 3718m, which turns it in:

-The highest point of Spain (politically it belongs to Spain)

-48 Africa's higher volcano (the Canary islands belong geographically to Africa, though the position for height leaves us below enough in the list)

Nevertheless, which many people still do not know or are surprised,
it is that the Teide is the biggest third volcano from its base (only they overcome it Mauna Praise and Mauna Kea in Háwai).

The response is simple, when they do the measures, they do it from the level of the sea, but the Teide is born the ocean bed, not at the level of the sea. The Teide is 3718 m (from the level of the sea) more 7.500 m (from the bottom oceanic).

The global list will be different if it was in mind from where the volcano or mountain is born.

Tagoror

 Tagoror

Tagoror is a word that comes from the Berber language and means circular enclosure with rocks (with a form of the seat). There the meetings were carried out for taking the decisions of the settlement.

The meetings were composed for the elders and the leader maximums of the society and were directed by the Guadameñe (high priest).

Nowadays we find some of them in the most isolated places and there are representations in some zones, since these enclosures entered disuse after the conquest.
