Area Information

It is possible to find vegetation like pines (Pinus canariensis), brooms (rhodorhizoides and Teline microphylla),  elbows (Adenocarpus viscosus) and rosalillos de cumbre (Pterocephalus lasiospermus).

In relation to the fauna we find cernícalos ( kestrels),  lagarto tizón (lizard), Mosquitero Canario, caminero, el herrillo y la curruca tomillera (they are the most frequent birds in the area).

This is a route of high volcanic interest; pyroclasts (lapillis and slag); different types of lava; extensor surface of Montaña Reventada, lavas type "aa"; and volcanic bombs.

The drop of the path

To come to this area, we take the TF-38 the road of Chío. It is a circular path, so we can leave the vehicle on the same siding where the path begins.

First, we go up to the volcano, to see the imposing crater (there is no sign that you can surround it, but if there is a road done, better not to take it) and we go back. We descend again to continue with the route, in that case surround the volcano of La Botija.

There is not any complication in the first part, it is a very well signposted path  (not only by the signs of the route, but the path is well delimited). The first part is smooth, without a complicated elevation. There are some broom.

The next part of the tour, the terrain is more abrasive, and we also find a fairly high slope. In all this stretch we do not find any vegetation. We can enjoy the capricious shapes, lava flows and the blown mountain with Pico Viejo and Teide in the background

Then we descend, and almost at the end we find again with vegetation (before reaching the starting point we pass by the bifurcation that takes us to the  Abeque´s path).

There are several paths that cover different points (paths signposted to us, that lead to the summits of adjacent volcanoes, but that better not to climb so that we can all enjoy the volcanoes).

To repeat again,  it is a route without any complication since at all times it is signposted.
