Tourism in the #CanaryIslands is born when many patients belonging to wealthy family members travel to the islands, which were "sold" by national doctors and internationals for having a mild climate all year round, clean air, which was ideal for treating respiratory and skin diseases.

Among these diseases were tuberculosis, pneumonia and bronchitis. For this reason, several sanatoriums are built on the island to accommodate these visitors.

One of them was built in Las Cañadas, where today there is some private property known as El Sanatorio. There is not this original building, but some huts built between the 30s and 40s of the last century in the same place.

In any case, the idea of housing patients in these areas due to the sudden drop in temperatures at night is rejected in part and the #Puertodelacruz is chosen as the ideal place for this, but we will talk later.

With medical advances to cure these diseases, and the fact that Las Cañadas has been declared a National Park, many unsustainable actions in the area have been halted.

Also, it is said that the buildings we see are the house of the doctor and services, being paralyzed the work without being built the rooms of the sick.

Edades Islas Canarias / Canary Islands age

Today we are going to talk about one of the phenomena, with many others, that occur on our islands. In this case in concentration we will talk about the hat of the Teide, lenticular altocumulus is its technical slang.

Every time someone on the island sees such a phenomenon, it is known that the time will change, that it will rain (or so it was fulfilled, because the time is already so crazy that one doesn´t know).

The formation of that cloud at the peak of Mount Teide reveals the presence of moisture and wind at those levels, and that may be an indication that unstable weather is approaching.

Depending on the shape of the hat and its persistence, the front will be more or less active and will bring more rain or more wind.

Some sayings are (well, more or less the sayings are): "When the Teide wears a hat, rains and showers come"; "When the Teide wears a hat, there will be rain and showers"; "When the Teide wears a hat, there will be a downpour"; "When the Teide touches, pick up the clothes"; "When the Teide has touched, goatherd, save your clothes".

Caldera
